BEGINNERS SPANISH STARTING JULY 18
In this course, we will introduce you to the basics of communicating in Spanish. You will learn the language tools you’d need to get around if dropped into the middle of a Spanish-speaking country or your cousin’s Quinceañera. This includes asking basic questions, describing yourself and others, food and drinks, directions, and talking about things you do on a normal day. Class time will focus on listening and speaking skills in order to make best use of our time together. This includes such activities as deciphering a love song, ordering a margarita at the restaurant, and complaining about Austin traffic. In addition to this, you will leave each class with a list of recommended activities (i.e. homework for grownups) for reading and grammar to help you solidify and expand on what you’ve learnt in class. Concepts to be covered in class include: gender and plurals, simple present tense verbs, question formation, demonstrative adjectives, and possessive pronouns.
Class is every Monday 7-9pm in Central Austin, July 18 — September 12 (skipping Labor day)
Cost: $200 + Textbook
Capacity: 10 Students
INTERMEDIATE SPANISH STARTING JULY 20
Can you already do the following things in Spanish: Explain what you like to do on the weekends? Describe the best taco trucks in Austin? Tell somebody you like their shoes and ask where they’re from? Even if it takes take you a moment to put these sentences together, you are ready for our intermediate Spanish course. You will learn language tools to say what you want, can, and should do; how to compare things and explain what you think about them in no uncertain terms; and describe what happened in the past. Class time will focus on listening and speaking skills in order to make best use of our time together. If you’ve already learnt things like the pretérito this will still offer you the opportunity to get a hang of using it naturally in conversation (and no problem if you don’t know what I am talking about yet). In addition, you will leave each class with a list of recommended activities (i.e. homework for grownups) for reading and grammar to help you solidify and expand on what you’ve learnt in class. Concepts to be covered in class include: stem-changing and irregular present tense verbs (tiene, vengo), modal verbs (puedo, quiero), comparative and superlative adjectives (más guapa, la más guapa), preterite and imperfect (hablé, hablaba).
Class is every Wednesday 7-9pm in Central Austin, July 20 — September 7
Cost: $200 + Textbook
Capacity: 10 Students

ABOUT LORO LANGUAGE
Originally from San Antonio, Matthew Chovanec, the founder of Loro Language, has been teaching languages around the world for the last decade. He has taught students about Spanish poetry in Istanbul, French memes in New York City, and Bob Marley lyrics in Cairo. Driven by a little bit of natural proficiency and a whole lot of curiosity, he taught himself several international languages and understands firsthand what it takes to go from the language classroom to the real world. This includes finding creative ways to practice and build on new language skills when there isn’t the immediate opportunity to travel abroad. Currently working on his Phd in Arabic and Turkish literature at UT, Matthew continues to be a student of language himself.
