I believe in connecting your mind/body to your SPIRIT. Power and Wholeness comes from our Heavenly Father. I believe we cannot accomplish long term goals without Him. Maybe some have, but the struggle is harder and usually they are stealing it from another area of their life. We all have our own fitness journey. For me, I have been through 5 pregnancies, gaining 50lbs, FIVE different times. After my 3rd child, I felt like it was always a struggle and roller coaster ride with eating and exercise. Even though I had been a collegiate athlete and in the fitness industry...it was a constant struggle. I have been a fitness instructor for 20+ years - the pressure to be on stage and be an 'example' to others at that point in my life was torturous. Because I sought comfort with food, celebration with food, entertainment with food, etc, etc. How could I have any of those wonderful feelings without it? After my 4th child, I wanted to give up and quit! So in January of 2010, after much prayer, I looked to the Lord for an answer. I decided to find any scripture, book, quote, author, to inspire me to keep me strong in attaining my goals. And, no, not to be skinny....to be healthy, and not to obsess over food then obsess to run it off. I wanted OFF the hamster wheel. I wanted to love good foods and hate the bad ones. I wanted to not be a sugar addict. I wished that I could've attended a "Sugar -12 step program"-then my problem would be solved. I wanted God to come into my spirit and make it whole - because I was empty and VAIN. For six months, I dedicated that time to feeding my spirit with prayer, mind-like friends, reading scripture, writing/visualizing goals, bible study, positive talk, and denying the negative ones -- anything to know more and find inspiration. Slowly, I learned the tools that I needed to overcome. There were tears, and a lot of ups and downs. Learning the discipline of self control in an area where I had non was BRUTAL. But where there is challenge, there is change. And it was amazing!! In addition to teaching classes, I held an outdoor bootcamp, incorporating exercise and bible study. That went great! I even entered a Muscle Mania Figure Competition and got 4th! Those six months changed me. I became strong where I was weak. I accomplished goals that I didn't think I could. Before the transition, I used the Power of the Holy Spirit to deal with everything in my life, except with exercise and food. I eventually broke those chains of bad habits, and years later, I gave birth to my baby #5. After having him, and facing another weight loss challenge, I KNEW I could shed the weight. My attitude was totally different and is was a night/day experience. This time, I had the tools that I needed and the confidence to stick to it, making the vision attainable. Because the good news is: the toughest time is the first time. Once you've done it, you know you have the strength and power to do it again. Confidence in Him is everything.
I am an Austinite, born and raised. We lived in Houston for 15 years, where this transition took place. We moved back 5 years ago to Dripping Springs and have continued teaching classes in Austin. My life has made a turn and have felt led to come out of my comfort zone and share my passion with Dripping Springs. If you are looking for a group to workout with and start changing from the inside out, then this is for you! There are three choices: indoor classes, outdoor classes, or personal training. After ALL that said, I over heard a woman make a comment to her friend, about me and she said, "she just has a fast metabolism." Oh boy, I thought, you have NO IDEA!!!! I hope she reads this!
